Welcome to the Mayhem! Don't forget to play with people you know who will show you all of the tricks. Nameless and Scify come to mind.

Welcome aboard MEAT! :D May your deaths be many, and crunchy! ;)

MH was ok 2 years ago, but nowhere near as good as it is now. We've got talented mappers who are pushing this old game engine to the limits, and the results are phenomenal. A case in point would be HM-Lost In Time. That map with its all new monsters just simply rocks!
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess

Always wait and let some other jerk finish the map. Again, points don't matter unless you want the picture to be of you at the end when it tells everyone you are the winner. No one cares about that because the most points has nothing to do with the best player. The best player is the one that best helps the team to succeed. It will take more playing before you really get a hang of it eh. Later!
Yes, the problems I witnessed was the one or two people that ran out ahead of the group and also
the one or two that stood around and watched. But overall it was a good experience.
The one thing I didn't like was the free for all or the group killings.
You know, where you're being attacked and everyone is jumping around shooting at whatever moves.
Half the time you're shooting a creature and the other half your partners.
I guess that's why the regenerating health is a nice touch. I've played this other MH server and it didn't have that.
You could actually kill the guy helping you...lol
But as for the team aspect it's always a tough thing. Some people are into it and others are loners.
Although it would be great if there was a mod that made it that each individual had to contribute before the group could move on.
And only then could the group move on.
And being that it is a team effort I really see no point in having a score.
I'd rather see it broking down into check points or accomplishments.
But I'm still new to all this.....let me play a few more times.

I like the ideas you are spitting out.
I love team play so much more then a race to the end with the highest frag count.

I used to play a map where there had to be three people to flip each switch in the map. One person had to hold off waves of monsters. Two other people had to stand on separate platforms and shoot a crystal wall decoration till two pillars slowly came out of the wall from opposite directions and finally touched together in the middle. Then the crystal would explode and the switch was clicked. There were four rooms like this. Each with a different monster attacking you. It was a beautiful map because of the team play aspect.

I think we should start making maps with this in mind more.
Would anyone find it annoying to play a map that forces team play?
I know there have been some already that have not done so well like MH-GlassCoop. It was just a tad bit to confusing to complete for some i think. That is why it gained such a bad reputation.

When i had my MH server running i used a mutator called ReverseTeamDamage. It put any harm you did to a teamate on your healt count instead of theirs. It was attemted to make people slowdown a little and shoot more carefull. Maybe encourage some team togetherness. People still ran around spraying everything though.

actually, I like the idea of more teamplay type maps.
but i still think we should keep some maps that allow individual play, because many people play to win.
ever though this is a team game, winning is still very popular.

also, junior high's keeping me pretty busy, so i'm have trouble balancing text books on my head and checking the forums at the same time. sorry fellas. I've also noticed that once i left, things got realllll quiet. =P

Team play can be demanding on the lone wolf.
But has there ever been any games where the object of the game was to "race to the finish"?
Just thinking out loud here.
Everyone start at the same spot or maybe at different spots within a map.
And the first one to the finish line wins....and of course everyone would have
to experiment some obstacles, other players and monsters along the way.
Could even be a team event...kind of like Capture the Flag...but without the flag...lol

Lots of good ideas here especially Korts mutator that reversed damage. There is a Team MH mod out there but I have never tried it. Sadly, many of the things mentioned here would also go against the Bigi mod I use meaning I'd have to convert over to UTJMH which I don't want to do. I wish it was easier to customize stuff in MH. MEAT's idea about a race where everystarts at different points in very interesting too but that would have to be a whole other game type I think. Yes Matrix, without you our lives are empty and suck!

I'm only passing through Hermskii.
So don't talk me into starting my own MH server.

I dont think reversedamage effects the BIGIZ mod. I will try it out cause it's been a while , but i am sure i ran both of them together just fine before.

I know I'm new and all at this MH stuff.
But I thought MH was a team effort....?
Why doesn't anyone want to play as a team?
I've got guys pushing me out of the way when the goal is
still 10 miles away....lol
What is the hurry to finish without your team mates?
I know that you know the map better then I do....but slow down.
Show me and all newbies how and where to go...geez

You really need more "team" oriented maps Hermskii.
Or better educated team players.
And I know this is a another "dead horse I'm beating".
But you're going to lose me as a potential MH player.
Whatever....

No MEAT keep going we need hard headed players like you in MH to make it how its supposed to be played as a team, you will see maybe ohhh 4 players that will play as a team you can only hope the rest see it and realise thats how its supposed to be played...

Dead Horse

Post by Hermskii » Sun Sep 23, 2007 8:30 pm

Yes, it's another dead horse for sure. Keep on trying though. Then difference here is this is a exponentially smaller crowd than DM. Still, I ask that you keep up the fight for whatever it is you mentioned. I will be removing the BT type maps soon. That won't fix it but it will help. Later.
