Have computer problems

1) This been going on over month I get black screen say something about boot agent I let it run .
To it boot. It takes about 30 minutes everything pops up. If I try skip it I can't get on net.Christmas I am get new calbe moden my is out date it will be 7 years old.
2) Now i am get this

3) Thing It Freezing up badly .No I haven't use up all my hard drives.

Is this something I can fix. I don't have money pay someone fix it. I been try to see i pick up Virus . I guess this Sat I try run it again it run 10 hours it scanning two hard drives

Not a clue. Are you on Vista? Didn't a different error come up before you see this screen? If so, what is that error that comes up first. When does it happen exactly?

No, it XP SP2

It start up it black screen then I get my Gateway boot screen then it get black screen I try get picture flash wash it out . IT say something about boot agent. I let run it course. I know better try change something I don't know.After last time I thought It was Sound card need updated but it was that SP2 . {Edit} Between MSN, AOL and Yahoo take longer pop up after i get my wall paper
Plus I been try download update from windows from July Never been able install

Last Night drove me crazy .Try download update stop or frozen up. I try just do it again . It show up I did download last night.

And Task Manger Gone crazy it stay 10% . I right back I just update anit virus. I try bring it up to run to check if I have virus..

Task manger run between 2% to 10% but last night it was 100% and tonight it gone to 2% to 100 % at times. IS that normal?
I ask CP person at school they said maybe it was Virus or my motherboard

Right I an scanning my computer for virus . Take time
because of two hard drives
I know this computer is four years old only thing been up dated was other 512 ram bring up to Gig on no more room for ram and other hard drive bring up 280 Gb HD because 120 got morre 40 Gb on run slow. Never restall Xp don't know if I want to because SP2 All those day would take Two days now with DSL

if you dont have anything important to lose you could always to a restore to a date before this started altho you would lose what you put on since that date i have had to do this before

i know i did before 1 or 2 years ago something went wrong SP2( don't know it was Virus) . It running in safety mods I thought need it either Sound or Vid card I update that evrything crazy . CP was rebooting 10 second then reboot I learn how use Arrows keys to into system restore in 10 seconds because USB port mess up.

glad i could help altho 10 sec for me would be a life time dont know if i could be that quick it took me hour half to reload ut yesterday when it went bonkers

dang i would throw it out the window after ten dont have that kinda patiance

acualy now that i think about it i beleave you can use the cd and boot and do a restore that way not sure tho
