key binding

Hey all! i have been noticing a lot of different key bindings lately like i have a suicide key binding so that i don't have to kill my self with a shock rifle when i have 5k health! I was wondering if someone could tell me how to key bind words or if its even possible and any other cool key bindings u might know plz. Also if someone could tell me how to disable key bindings because i accidentally have two suicide keys and i always accidentally hit the one i don't normally use killing myself and sending me off the deep end. Ty all!

I'm not sure about custom key binds, but I do know that when you want to commit suicide in UT, just hit Tab and type 'suicide' and hit enter.

lol matrix thanx but what i was saying is that i have a button (r) set so i can die automatically sry i canteven remember the key bind for that TY though.

I would think the answer would be to find the keybind section in the user.ini file in your C:\unrealtournament folder. Go to the keybind listings and remove the listing to that key. Example:


Before
j=Taunt Taunt1
K=Taunt Victory1


After
j=Taunt Taunt1
K=

Now the K does not do the Taunt Victory1 anymore. Done!

OMG thanx herm!! u think it would work opposite too like

k= say "whatever"

now the button k would say whatever when ever i pushed it
or something like that to say something or even some other stuff like
instead of deleting suicide if i typed in sucide would it work?

k= suicide

now the button k would make me commit suicide
i hope that isnt as confusing to u as it is to me

Any time you are in game you can hit the tab key and type :
Set input j say k is the coolest!!!!!

This would be good.

Seriously though.

Type "set input" and then what yo want to happen and you will bind a key on the fly. it will be recorded in your .ini automatically. You can set it to make you jump or say something what ever you want. there is also ways to bind multiple things to one key. Try the unreal wiki out , do a search. i'm sure you will find something there.

herm i cannot thank u enough i was able to disable my extra suicide key thanx to you and yes you can go into ur user file and under the keyboard u can delete it if u want.

omg and ty kortnie i have been wanting this for a while set input that was it! that is how i originally got my suicide key on some bt server. Thanx again all

lol, you should see that stuff I got, just about every key is binded with some command, or saying (even to do 4 lines at once!). I also learned to make extra binds change on some keys to do diff stuff on the fly.

ok so i know how to key bind regular words now like "hello" i can do that. But heres an even harder question how do i key bind something like this:

@ @@ @@ @@@ @ @ (LMAO in @)
@@@ @ @ @ @ @ @@@

it doesnt work it only says the top line. I know u have to go in ur user file, and type in something like

Q= say

but i dont know what to do from there. Lol a more challenging question!!

ps no matter how i type the lmao on the forum it doesn't show up right!

When people use key binding to make one huge word that takes up the entire chat corner, ex. (WTF in #'s), they are actually taking that big work, and make three key binds of it, so if you hit all three keys in order, one after the other, you can ultimately take up the entire chat box with something like, WTF in #'s.

Sry Kortnie but im not going to be spamming (probably) i just want key bindings for when im in something like the long corridor fighting the skarj i can talke with a push of a single button instead of dying! But i see ur point and im giving up on the lmao stuff i said before im too lazy to figure out how to line them up and crap! Thank you though matrix for telling me how.

LOL, that way is not how it's done to show up on all 4 lines max at the same time (or 2 or 3 for that matter). It can be all done on one key & done on a line by using the dividing line "|" & using say= again for the next line of text.
I tried to find a guy I know of from xfire who took some screenshots of how it looked, but can't see them now. I'll post later if one wants to see an example of what I mean.

thats awesome. I have all sorts of ideas for multiple keybind chains now.
