My new house

Post by K » Thu Dec 06, 2007 4:28 pm

Great!
Just moved into a new place on the east side.
I just found out we are living like a block from a big crack and prostitution area.
One of my roommates talked to some crack head at the corner store today.
Lucky for us there is a church across the street from our house who regulates on crack heads walking on this street. Still i am nervous. I have been robbed twice in houses i have lived in before. It is the worst feeling ever. I hope we dont get robed here.
Walking outside at night is another story.

I think i have been making my self sick worrying about it since i have been here. I just have to remember this is Austin. This is hardly a rough town. But allot of my friends have gotten jumped and beat up , who knows what will happen to me if i get cornered. I think if i am on my bike i am safe if i don't stop.

I do believe it is an 80s Schwinn. I built it from the frame i found in my friends yard. I made it a 5 speed.

I really have been thinking about buying a Honda Shadow though. Next best thing to a Harley but cheaper.

She is speaking of a bicycle being the Schwinn. They were great bikes back then. The Honda Shadow is sweet too but I'd never own one since it is a total Harley knock-off and everybody knows it. They are great bikes though. I am a Honda Interceptor man myself. Love those jap-crap crotch rockets. My next one will be the Suzuki Hayabusa.

My last bike was a Kawasaki NinjaZX600R
It was a rocket. But i had to get rid of it.

For the last 4 yrs i have just rode various bicycles around. I currently have the Schwinn , a DK Cleveland 20" and a chopper lowrider bike. All of these i put together. I'm kind of a bike nerd.

The Schwinn bicycle company got into making motorcycles at one time. By the 1920's their Excelsior V-twin motorcycles were the ones to beat. They were fast and reliable for their day. Excelsior bought out another motorcycle company you may have heard of, called Henderson. Henderson made longitudinal inline fours. The combined company was called Excelsior-Henderson. They closed down in 1931 due to the depression. Schwinn carried on in their core business. Interestingly, I found this link:

http://www.schwinnscooters.com/

You mentioned the name of "Cleveland" as a brand of bicycle? There once was a Cleveland manufacturing company that made sewing machines, and perhaps bicycles also. I do know they made a motorcycle of the same type as the Henderson for a short time. Someone found an old Cleveland four and was able to fully restore it. It's probably the only one left in the world.

I hope you're ok where you are Kortnie. If you continue to feel unsafe, move. :!:
I'm a man........but I can change........if I have to........I guess
