My computer just got Hosed! F**K F**K F**K

Post by K » Sun Aug 03, 2008 12:09 pm

NOOO!!!!!

My computer is completely hosed! :x :x :x

Yesterday i was trying to install a PS2 emulator and something went very wrong.
It asked me witch login i was using and then it did something very bad to my bios via the little scrolling dos window.

At first strange things started happening.
Firefox would flash on the screen and open by itself randomly.
Some websites i could visit, others would never load at all.
I could go to google but if i searched for something it would do absolutely nothing.
VERY strange!!
I could not use the calculator or notepad or any control panel items.
My computer after a reboot would boot to the desktop background but the icons and the task bar are all missing.
WTF!!!! I cant do anything!!!!!!!!!
Not even open a folder, i cant get to them to click on them WTF??

So I then punched the desk so hard i think i broke my pinky knuckle.
Now i have a broke computer and a wounded hand.

I dug out the old MHM#2 box and booted it up.
It is now my primary computer again.
This sucks really bad cause it turns off by itself randomly, I think it is from cooling probs.

SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT this sucks!
Now i need a whole new os . GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The os is hosed but i will undoubtedly be able to rescue all files.
I am going to wipe it and reinstall WinXP tuesday.
One of my friends says i have been old school hacked "fished".
I downloaded this emulator , i should have scanned it for danger.

This might be against the forum rules but what site did you get the emulator at K?
I dont want to download it, but you should download it from one of the actual emulator sites.
IDK if you use torents or directly downloaded it, but downloading emulators from the site is the easiest and safest way i think.

the games though are a whole other problem....

Name

Post by Hermskii » Mon Aug 04, 2008 10:20 pm

That is how I ended up with the name of Hermskii. I had found that I could play all of the old games on my PC like Donkey Kong, Joust, Centipede, Pac-Man, Asteroids, Defender, Stargate, and about 900 other old games by using a program called MAME. It stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. There used to be a site called Hermski's MAME site or something like that. I added another I at the end of the name and thus I became Hermskii. My avatar picture is even from that old site which just up and disappeared several years back. Hermski is either the name of the artist of the Hermski Jester or it is the name of the Jester himself. I never figured it out. I still have MAME on my PC to this day. Those old games don't seem nearly as fun anymore though.

I would have wiped my whole drive clean but I had too many needed files, etc. I had no place to back them up and I really couldn't even get to my files anyway. So I could only re-install Windows and hope for the best. :?
Actually the comp runs quite a bit better than it has in years now!
I just have trouble with 1 update still for Windows Media Player!
It wants to install the update every time I boot up! (daily)
It installs successfully then - next day same update!

ok this may help its worked for me a couple times.

Start the System Restore tool at a command prompt
1. Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in Safe Mode with a command prompt.
2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.
3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

it might work restore ur pc to like a week before u got the virus then if u can get windows to all work properly scan like crazy :D
